How to Join...
We welcome new members! If you are 14 years or over then you can become a lifeguard by joining our club, getting involved, achieve your Surf Bronze Award and much more.
You achieve your surf bronze by completing the Surf Lifeguard Award, trained by qualified instructors.
You will also have the opportunity to go on other developmental courses such as First Aid 1,First Aid 2, IRB crewing and IRB Drivers. There are possibilities to attend camps with other lifeguards from northern region and to compete in surf sports.
Whats required:
Training:-
Conducted on Sundays starting at 11am. This will cover knowledge of the Sea, Surf, IRB, Patrolling and First Aid. There is a swim component and practise in the surf conditions. The training is usually held over 10 consecutive weekends.
Examination:-
Pool:- Consists of a 400m swim in under 9 minutes, tube rescue and tows.
Beach:- Consists of a run-swim-run in the sea and tube rescues.
Dates:2012 Season
Accelerated Training Starting 7th January – Beach Exam 5th February
Second course 21st January
