PORT WAIKATO RIVER SWIM JANUARY 17TH 2009
Every year the Trust Waikato Sunset Beach Lifeguard Service hold an Annual Waikato River Swim race event across the Waikato River. Gathering point is at the sand dunes, Maraetai Bay. Surf Club members can meet at the Surf Club at 8am. All other swimmers be at the sand dunes by 8.30am for registration and transport to the other side of the river. This is a great event for young and old alike and everyone in between (lots of those types)... non swimmers can help out with boat safety and marshalling and of course the supporters (enthusiasm plus vocal support) very welcome.
